Up the minute news and information on the Racing Yacht Coyote and her continuing journeys!
It appears we are within hours for a second place, so spinniker is up and full. 100 miles to go, and we should be sipping cocktails at KYC come sunset. We are ready for land- but will always remember this trip. Steve dedicated the trip to me and what a gift. With many boats dropping out or finishing the race with equipment broken, there is a whole new appreciation we all have for the preparation work that Steve has done. I always felt safe- Coyote is a good solid girl. Sometimes it was hard and I thought I was crazy for doing this. I spent about a half an hour after 6 or so days crying up forward- I felt so battered and bruised- and thought the crappy weather was never going to go away and that the whole sail at night with shorts and T shirts was just a crock. But the sun did come out- and the gentle warm ocean breezes have been with us for 5-6 days. The sunsets, the moonlight, the stars - a perfect picture. Each of us has challenged ourselves in some way- and we all are feeling really good that we all got along and worked well as a team. Uncle Phil has been the most wonderful and perfect addition to our family. Easy going, experienced and a great navigator. Only one big fight aboard and that was between Steve and I- but we quickly kissed and made up. I’m so proud of Adam, Ryan and Stu. They have always boys in my mind, but no longer. How quickly they grow- and now new appreciation for each of them as men. Thank you all for your emails and good wishes.. Land ho.
