Up the minute news and information on the Racing Yacht Coyote and her continuing journeys!
Well we have two things in mind now. 1. Finish the race. Looking like we may finish on Sunday, hope the winds hold. 2. Catch Relentless. We believe we have actually passed them, but owe them a 5 hour handi-cap. So far we believe we have made up 4 of those 5 hours, so we are working hard to grind them in! Food and company continue to be terrific, everyone is working hard (especially after driving over our spinnaker yesterday morning at 1015, it took us 2 hours to get the scraps on board, still have a “flag” flowing from our rudder……Ryan and adam were hanging on the back of the boat with boathooks trying to get the last piece loose, but no time to waste, so we just took off, and put up spinnaker number 2 (still have #3 and #4 in reserve!) Still no stars, only occasionally do we see one or two briefly. This morning has some blue patches (very small) in the sky, we are always hopeful the sun will come back out. Yesterday afternoon we did have 3 hours of great sunlight before the cloud cover came back! Adam is fishing for a Mahi, hook went in at 6am this morning. Stuart took a terrific video of the boat from the top of the mast, wow looks like a professional documentary… he hoisted a special waterproof vidio camera up the mast and wow….. Sail handling by Ryan continues to be fantastic. Food buy Connie also fantastic, along with the fresh baked cookies. Phil is doing a terrific job as Navigator leading us to wind and the finish line! Very warm now at this latitude, light clothing is fine except during periods of rain from the squalls. Don’t forget to check out other blog postings at www.sailcoote.com. Coyote and Crew
