what an incredible trip. Half way party was made extra special with a video of family wishing us luck. It was heart warming to see family encouraging us along! Half way party was mellow- broke out steak, had boxed mashed patoes and peas. The big splurge was one beer each- and a glass of wine for me. This morning I woke up (6 am as usual)to rain. Jeez- we go from fog to rain! But it was just a “mini” squall. Gone before I knew it- we got about five of those today. we got plenty of sun today. As I was steering down a large wave, the spinaker halyard broke and the sail went got stuck under the boat. Everyone “jumped to” Ryan, on the sugar scoop and Adam on the stern- each with a boat hook worked without luck to free part of spinnaker now wrapped around the rudder post. All is working well- altho we did loose our favorite spinakker.. Every morning we are required to call in our position At 8 am on the dot. At 5 pm the communication boat reads the standings. For the past 7 days we have been in third place (our division)- we are catching second place …. The captain and crew smell blood! Looks like we’ll push hard tonight to secure second place. Was able to share some watch time with Stuart yesterday- who is using his amazing photography skills to document the adventure. He is also an excellent driver.. he likes to sing when he drives- We are all getting along way better than I ever thought possible! Time for watch…
